The forest-clad Mount Gading is an attractive destination for an excursion. And with a bit of luck you might perhaps get to see a blooming Rafflesia, the largest flower in the world!
If you are lucky you might also get to see a blooming Rafflesia, the largest flower in the world! This parasitic plant consists of roots and flower only, without any leaves and only grows on a specific host plant. Please be aware though, that there is no guarantee that there will be a flower in bloom during your visit. It takes many months for Rafflesia flower buds to open, and once open it will only bloom for a few days before it rots.
Depart Kuching at 09:00 am for a drive of about 1.5 hours to the small town of Lundu, at the foothill of the forest-clad Mount Gading.
After registration at the national park, your guide will take you on a trek. For most parts, the main trail follows the winding path of a stream and leads through stunning vegetation. Be amazed by the majestic rainforest trees, strangling figs, as well as lianas in different shapes and sizes.
A number of waterfalls invite for a refreshing dip in the cool mountain water. They are several waterfalls to choose from, depending on your fitness level. A packed lunch is included.
Tour ends with transfer back to your hotel (expected arrival around 04:00 pm).
